I’ve considered holding off until I pick it up, but I may as well share it now. It’s a 1999 Rover Mini, and though it's not perfect, it's pretty close. Right now, this is the only photo I have; there may be more soon...

I’m guessing he’s asking as the 1999 isn’t legal in the U.S. Yet (not until 2024) but would be legal in Canada for the last couple of years.
If you were in the U.S. It’d be how you managed to get a 1999 into the U.S.
A few cars ( not necessarily Mini) get into illegally and get crushed by the feds.

Ye’, it’s the same for Mini as it is for the Land Rover Series/Defender. They didn’t change much so it’s difficult for some to know whether it’s old, old but had a some modern work done making it look nearly new, nearly new or nearly new but made to look old to get passed customs etc... some try and use the last one and get caught out and some legally import an old one with a few modern updates and then get the car taken off them because the person inspecting it can’t tell their arse from their elbow.

When I bought my Mini back in 2003, I had looked at a LOT of them that were listed like this:
“1972 Mini - built to 1999 specs” Which meant it was a 1999 Mini with a 1972 VIN on it.
Wanted to make sure that if you were in the US, that you edited that typo to “1972" :)
What lump does it have? 1098? 1275?

there’s a lot with dodgy vins over here to get free tax and stuff, what year is yours?
This ones a 1275 mpi model; so decent power, but a total pain to work on :/

I’m not actually sure what it is. It belonged to the seller and looked like it was still being built. I wish I could tell you more, but my guess is that it’s some sort of kids pedal car

Yes, it’s not subtle. But I’m in the US, so it really isn’t that over-the-top. I’m currently fighting it quite a bit to get it running well after doing a whole load of work to the top end , but hopefully it’ll be back in action soon!

Love yours! That’s honestly pretty subtle compared to most of what I’d seen before this one, so don’t worry about being over the top.
The only other photo I have of it is a super grainy picture from the ad; I’ll get as many more pictures as I can once it gets here on Wednesday

Thanks! I’m trying to keep it relatively mild in terms of visual modification. I’m hoping to get it onto 10" wheels before I put it away for the winter, but we’ll see. There’s a bit of suspension work to do before that (Hi-Los)- not to mention downsizing the front brakes. Plus... I should probably get it running right first. That seems important.

Mine is a “1974, built to 1969 spec” Quite the opposite of what I described earlier.
It’s a Mark III, but has MKI tails/interior, 10' wheels, and 7.5" disks. Engine is a 1275 from around 1989 or so.
